Sprint adds Katana Eclipse X handset to rangeSprint on Monday announced the addition of a new handset to its range, with the Katana Eclipse X flip-phone. The main change from the original Katana Eclipse handset includes Sprint's One Click interface that allows users to customize their home screen with one-touch access to their most often used applications. The Katana X also sports lighting effects that users can assign to certain callers, alerts and incoming messages.

The Katana Eclipse X has a GPS sensor that allows users to get voice and visual turn-by-turn navigation instructions via the Sprint Navigation service, as well as access to POP3 e-mail accounts via Sprint's Mobile Email support. The provider's music store, TV and radio services are also accessible. The Eclipse X has a built-in speakerphone, a Bluetooth module, 1.3-megapixel camera with 12x zoom and a video recording capabilities. For storing up to 300 memos, a voice recording function is also integrated.

The handset also has an integrated MP3 player and includes a 256MB microSD card. Its integrated microSD slot will support cards up to 8GB in size.
The Sanyo Katana Eclipse X is available now through Sprint in black or pink, priced at $100 on a two-year contract and $50 mail-in rebate.
