T-Mobile ships cameo smart photo frame

T-Mobile ships cameo smart photo frameT-Mobile today started shipping the cameo digital photo frame. The Parrot-made viewer is comparatively unique in carrying its own SIM card and cellular subscription to let the owner update the current image through either an MMS message or e-mail. Users can also explicitly allow other users (including non-T-Mobile subscribers) to update the frame automatically rather than require permission.

For local storage, the cameo supports either a direct connection to a Mac, PC or camera through USB and accepts microSD cards for a more permanent collection. Users can specifically choose only certain collections to display and use a tilt sensor in the frame to switch from landscape to portrait mode.

T-Mobile sells the cameo today as a retail-only item for $100; to use its e-mail and MMS features, the frame needs a $10 monthly unlimited messaging plan added to a customer's existing voice plan.
