Data Robotics offers holiday deal on Drobo

Data Robotics offers holiday deal on DroboIn time for Thanksgiving, Data Robotics today started offering a $50 holiday discount in the form of an instant $50 coupon for the driveless model of its of its Drobo storage robot as well as the preloaded 2TB and 4TB versions. This comes in addition to recent, permanent price cuts to the 2TB and 4TB Drobo. As before, all offer a hot-swappable drive functionality that lets users keep a perpetually upgradable redundant backup by adding or replacing SATA drives of any capacity that automatically merge their storage existing content.

Before the holiday offer, the drives were priced at $499 for the drive-less Drobo, $749 for the 2TB bundle with two drives and $999 for the 4TB bundle with four drives. When the newer FireWire 800- and USB 2.0-equipped drives first launched this summer, they were priced at $499, $899 and $1,299, respectively. The Drobos with the drives use Western Digital's 3.5-inch, 1TB Green Power hard drives. All Drobos are compatible with Mac, PC and Linux operating systems, and allow users to mix and match hard drives, up to a maximum capacity of 4TB each, for a total capacity of 16TB.

The instant savings coupon is redeemed by typing HOLIDAY in the coupon field during online checkout on Drobo's site and is valid until December 21st. [viaSlashgear]
