Sony has recently introduced a $100 instant rebate on its Mylo COM-2 Internet Device, bringing the official price to just short of $200. The new price is valid until the end of January of 2009, leading many to suspect Sony may be trying to clear out stock to make room for a new model over the holidays. With CES scheduled for the first half of January, and the show serving as an unveiling spot for many new consumer electronics products, the expiration of the rebate is well-timed.
The Milo COM-2 has a Wi-Fi module to allow users to connect to the Internet for free at over 10,000 Wayport hotspots, and supports Skype Internet telephone service, along with Google Talk and Yahoo Messenger. Users interface on the slider device via a 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen and backlit keyboard. In addition, the device's integrated 1.3-megapixel camera can capture MPEG-4 video as well as still photos and upload either to hosting sites such as Flickr and YouTube in addition to social networking sites.
Flash Lite support allows users to play compatible games on the Internet. Users also receive free access to more than 22,000 SHOUTcast Radio stations.
The $100 rebate applies to both the black and white versions of the Sony Mylo COM-2. [viaPocketables]
