Fanatec intros RennSport Cockpit for racing gamers

Fanatec intros RennSport Cockpit for racing gamers Fanatec, a maker of high-end gaming controllers for gaming consoles and PCs, on Tuesday announced the release of its RennSport Cockpit for racing games. Made up of the aluminum roll cage that allows gamers to adjust the seat, pedal placement and steering wheel angle, the set-up includes a wide fiberglass seat that features an original design, similar to Fanatec's GTR-series products. The shifter attachment mounted on the right-hand side of the rig can be mounted on the left-hand side to suit drivers used to shifting with their left hand.

The RennSport Cockpit gives buyers the option of a single mounting bracket for a 37-inch monitor or HDTV, or mounting options for as many as three displays up to 24 inches in size. A sliding drawer meant to hold a keyboard is another option, though support for a 5.1-channel surround sound system is integrated. The seat can be ordered in black carbon fiber construction for an extra $300. The set-up lacks a steering wheel, but is fully compatible with Fanatec's line-up of Porsche steering wheels.

The RennSport Cockpit is priced at $995, though the buyer is also responsible for covering the shipping costs from Fanatec's German factory.
