MacWay unveils 1.5TB SilverDrive Quattro external HD

MacWay unveils 1.5TB SilverDrive Quattro external HDFrench company MacWay has unveiled the SilverDrive Quattro 1.5TB quad interface external hard drive. The new drive offers the highest storage capacity of the SilverDrive Quattro series, and supports USB 2.0, FireWire 400/800, and eSATA connections. The 7200RPM single disk drive is housed in an aluminum housing that allows for passive cooling, eliminating the need for a fan, which the company claims significantly reduces operating noise.

The bootable 3.5 inch drive offers transfer speeds comparable to internal drive setups interfaced using eSATA, according to MacWay. The device can be positioned on its side or upright using the provided removable feet. The SilverDrive Quattro 1.5TB is available from MacWay for 300 EUR (~$410 USD), configured for Mac but also includes Macdrive 7 software for Windows users. Storage capacity options for the series also include 320GB, 500GB, 750GB, and 1TB versions.
