Other World Computing has announced new SuperDrive upgrades for current and legacy Macs. The new drives feature DVD burn speeds up to 20X for desktop tower replacements and 8x speeds for notebooks, iMacs, Mac Minis and G4 Cubes. Dual-Layer DVD burning is supported across the entire line and OWC is offering options for Blu-ray support, LightScribe labeling and DVD-RAM support.
OWC's offerings work with most legacy Macs, including G3, G4 and G5 towers, the iMac G4 and G5, the G4 Cube, eMac and Mac mini and notebooks like the titanium and aluminum G4 PowerBooks and the iBook g4. The drives are tested and certified for Mac compatibility, working with Apple's iTunes and Disc Burner, Apple's DVD Studio Pro, EMC Retrospect Express and Roxio's Toast, to name a few. The drives also offer Windows and Linux compatibility.
OWC is offering rebates of up to $45 for customers' old, working drives when buying the new upgrades. Prices range from $30 for tower models to $200 for the G4 Cube. OWC is offering external FireWire/USB 2.0 models staring at $7, while Blu-ray models start at $150 for read-only models and $320 for Blu-ray burning-equipped drives.
