MvixUSA shows NAS with iTunes, torrent, web services

MvixUSA shows NAS with iTunes, torrent, web servicesMvixUSA is bringing a versatile Network Attached Storage device to the market, the MvixBOX or WDN-2000, the company announced on Tuesday. The two-bay NAS doubles as a media server, as it is capable of torrent sharing in addition to dynamic website hosting and data back-up capabilities. While the product ships without any included hard-drives, it is capable of housing two 1.5TB SATA HDDs. The MvixBOX does ship pre-configured with Apache, MySQL, SQlife and PHP web servers as well as dynamic DNS functionality. For network access, a gigabit Ethernet connection is present.

The NAS comes with MvixUSA's user-friendly interface and Web-Disk while uploading files is made easier thanks to a RapidBox function that allows users to send or receive files just by typing in a URL, eliminating the need to use an FTP application.

Media streaming is accomplished via UPnP and other formats, with iTunes server and FTP support accounted for as well. The choice of user drives can be set up to act as a mirrored RAID array or left as a single large volume. A front USB 2.0 port allows users to quickly transfer files onto a USB stick or add even more capacity with external drives.

MvixUSA has not released pricing information, but does say the MvixBOX will start shipping in late October.
