Fujitsu today introduced six new notebooks and tablet PCs based on the Intel Centrino 2 mobile platform announced last night. The two tablet PCs are the LifeBook T5010 and T1010, both sporting a 13.3-inch display. The main difference between the two is the use of the Centrino 2 vPro business chipset in the T5010 and the regular Centrino 2 in the T1010, with less security and no remote access options. The T5010 also features a modular bay that allows the optical drive to make room for a secondary battery.
The tablets' screen offers 1366x768 (WXGA) resolution and can be navigated thanks to a stylus. Both will offer wireless connection options such as Intel's draft-N or Atheros N for speeds up to 450Mbps, wide-area cellular wireless, and Bluetooth v2.1. By the end of the year, Fujitsu will also offer integrated wireless WAN. The keyboards on either tablet is spill-proof, while the hard drives are protected with Fujitsu's Shock Sensor. A dual-layer DVD writer and webcam are also common to either tablet PC. The T5010 is alone in offering a biometric fingerprint sensor, two-level BIOS and HDD password protection, and other security features.
The LifeBook E8420 is the flagship offering in Fujitsu's desktop replacement range of notebooks, also powered by the business-oriented Intel Centrino 2 with vPro technology. No other information was revealed about the E8420's specs, but it should share the chassis and display of its predecessor, the 15.4-inch E8410.
Fujitsu's LifeBook S6520 comes with a 14.1-inch widescreen display and the company's Crystal View technology, while the LifeBook S7220's 14.1-inch screen is covered with an anti-glare coating and features an integrated webcam.
The LifeBook A6210 notebook gives buyers a choice of 15.4-inch widescreens, offering Fujitsu's Color Enhanced Crystal View display or the power-saving Crystal View LP display. Either choice will see an integrated HDMI port and gesture touchpad. The A6210 looks like the entertainment choice then, also offering a Blu-ray drive, shared or dedicated graphics, and an external ExpressCard TV Tuner. A fingerprint scanner and password management software enhance security, while the optional 802.11n and eSATA port boost wireless and wired data transfer speeds, respectively. The OS is Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1.
The company revealed prices for its notebooks, with the T1010 listing at nearly $1,300, the T5010 at $1,770, the E8420 at $1,360, A6210 at $1,150, S6520 at $1,530 and the S7220 at $1,230. All but the vPro-equipped E8420 and T5010 are available now, with the stragglers joining the range in mid-August.
