While speaking to the press at a consumer event in London on Tuesday, Hewlett Packards vice president of the Personal Systems Group Eric Cador again confirmed the company will soon release notebooks with TouchSmart technology and software. As per report, HP unveiled a new TouchSmart desktop at the event. In addition to confirming the new notebooks, Cador dispelled a myth about HPs developing an operating system that would be an alternative to Microsofts Windows Vista.
We are not developing an operating system, Cador said more than once. The rumors regarding the new OS were likely confused with HPs plan to develop its own interface to take advantage of its touchscreen technology rather than wait for Microsoft's Windows 7, which promises to include support for a touch interface.
As for the TouchSmart notebooks, Cadors hints lead many to believe they will be shown to the public at the CES event in January, although no concrete details were given.
