The SDHC storage comes in 8GB and 16GB models and significantly boosts the minimum speed to Class 6, or 6MB per second in reads and writes. The company also anticipates speeds peaking at 20MB per second and says the speed is enough to maintain continuous shooting on most still cameras as well as for most video capturing.
Mass production dates for the larger cards will vary widely. The 8GB card arrives soon and will be built from December onwards; the 16GB SDHC card, however, isn't scheduled to reach factories until April. Pricing for these and the microSDHC cards hasn't been made public.
