The small footprint of the S7 will also house a WiMAX (WiBro in South Korea) or HSDPA module for 3G data network access, depending on the market it will be launched in, as well as SiRF Star 3 GPS module. In supported markets, a DMB TV tuner will be included, with H.264 vidoes supported in 1080i resolution when Windows Vista is preloaded. Otherwise, users can expect 720p video support when running Windows XP Home.
The S5 MID sports a 4.8-inch display with 800x640 resolution, and also uses an Atom processor, though choices are restricted to 1.3GHz or 1.6GHz speeds. It forgoes a keyboard but allows for fast Internet browsing thanks to its optional 3G module. Like Viliv's core products, it also acts as a multimedia player, with a battery life rating of 6.5 hours of movie playback, with browsing expected to drain the battery in about five hours. A hard drive will be optional, and Windows XP will be the OS, though Vista may be optional. DMB TV will also be supported in markets that offer it.
Unfortunately, information on pricing nor in which countries the S7 and S5 will be available has not been announced, though the S5 will launch in Korea by the end of the year in Korea and the S7 is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2009. [viaUMPC portal]
