The top-range Barracuda holds 32MB of cache and will be available in August at an unknown price by itself as well as built into future desktop systems. The remaining drives between 160GB and 1TB will remain in the lineup.
On top of the new flagship drive, Seagate additionally has two new Momentus 2.5-inch drives for notebooks. The 7200.4 is the first known hard drive in the class to carry 500GB but spin at the same 7,200RPM as desktop hard drives, essentially providing no compromises either in space or speed; it also carries 16MB of cache to cut down on unnecessary drive access. The 5400.6 delivers the same 500GB at a more common 5,400RPM speed and with 8MB of cache.
The two portable drives are due sometime in the fall.
